Life until you want to make a living

Am 50.

Half a century on the face of this earth. I am really amazed, not all who were born on the earth made it this far. When I was in school- maybe around 10 years old, I just couldn't imagine how life would be after another 10 years. Now when I look back, I fail to understand why I thought so.

At 50 you begin to look back and understand where you went wrong, rather than thinking where you were right. You keep thinking what you missed and if you are lucky maybe you will think what you gained over the years. The lesser the regret, better the your quality of life.

Life can never be generalized, this I understood at 50. But there are organic stages that needs to be accomplished. For the first 5 years of life, not much memory will be etched in the conscious regions. The next 5 years would be pretty much similar for most of us. Naughty, bratty, busy bodies, school, home, friends and games.

The first 10 years makes a lot of impression on the course of your future. After this stage is when the real you emerges. Who you are, how you think, this is when differences in personalities are noticed and we form friendships based on this variances.

What is important now comes to the forefront. Education and what you would aspire to become in your later years. By then you are 20 you are on your way after having decided you future course of action or of course you are dragged to some course of action with or without you efforts.

And you become conscious of the worldly standards set for you to toe. You try to break off from it, sometimes for the better or sometimes for the worse.

For me too the first 5 years, I do not retain much in my conscious sphere. The next 5 till the age of 10 yes, I was the naughty kind or didn't think of consequences before attempting anything. Luckily I was in one piece after all those adventures. After 10, I began understanding what life is and thought about the meaning of life.

Of course did not find a satisfactory answer to it.

I started putting more efforts into education and of course sports played a big part in my life. By 15 I was made to understand that you have to go by the age old rules. Study and finish education, get a good job or a well paid one, get married and have children.

So by 20 I find myself in a engineering college and studying hard, even though there are plenty of distractions. My dad is not doing good, he has an incurable sickness and is home- sort of semi-paralyzed. So at around 23 am out to get into the real world. And what to I realize this world of which we had wonderful ideas is really granite underfoot.

Jobs are hard to come by, the situation was bad then. Employers want to know how much you can earn for them and then they want to decide how much of it they are ready to part with to you. And I have a debilitating debacle, I have a speech issue. I find it really hard to communicate, even giving my name is an effort. So there it is, all my education seems to pale because of this.

My parents did not take steps to clear this debacle, but then maybe the medical industry was not so developed regarding such ailments. In their days it did not do much harm to people with such debacle as most would be pen-pushers (the educated lot) and so communication was not imperative to have a lucrative job.

But in this age for you to move higher up the hierarchy, communication was a factor that stood right up there. Your technical education was of use for the first 5 years.

After that it was man management. I took up a degree in management and now was B.E and MBA a very preferred combination that could take you heights. But you still needed communication, to take you up there. This I lacked and it broke my life. The first 5 years I worked like most and when the time came for me to move up in life and job, things became static.

Why Masala Dosa?

Just mention Masala Dosa, and you are hungry all of a sudden. A staple food that has its
presence in most Southern states of India. You can have this anytime, breakfast, lunch, as a
snack or even dinner time. It’s very much a wholesome meal and not too heavy on your wallet.

Primarily made up of rice and lentils - rice flour & urud dal in equal proportion, for the Dosa batter.
It’s usually served with a couple of chutneys (one usually coconut) and sambar. The stuffing is
potato, so there it is your carbs & proteins, all in one go.

There are different varieties of Masala Dosas, due to subtle variance in the recipe. These are
derived either from the proportion of the ingredients to make the batter or the finishing touches
given to the potato filling. A red chutney applied to the inner parts the dosa to impart tanginess
and spicy aroma.

This chutney is usually made of gram, red chillies, ginger, garlic and lime.
Then of course with or without butter, with butter called as benne-dosa. Bangalore has a gamut
of possibilities to sample this sumptuous stomach-filler. Right from the street food vendor- who is
open only from 6pm to 11pm or restaurants that are serve the whole day.

My early memories of having a Masala Dosa was during my schooling days.
For sports activities we travelled to other schools within Bangalore. After the
event was done, we would all head to the nearest restaurant and have a snack,
the famed Masala Dosa was my take all the time.

There are umpteen possibilities on how you can consume a Masala Dosa, which is
a pointer to your tastes. Some start from the sides. Some from the middle.
Some eat the potato filling at last, some early on. Some do not touch the chutneys
or sambar, while others savor it too.

Few of the famous joints that serve this famed dish are: MTR, one of the quintessential
manufacturer’s of Karnataka cuisine, usually as breakfast or evening snack. Maiya’s,
they add a dash of raagi in the dosa batter, this makes the Dosa softer. While at CTR
(in Malleswaram) the Dosa is much crispier (my nieces seem to prefer this variety).
Then we have these late night joints at Avenue Road, Raja market.

They are the food-truck kind of joints, and operate from 7pm to midnight. These roll in once the
garment establishments have downed their shutters, which Raja market is renowned for.
Or then at Sajaan Rao circle- famous for their street food. South Indian style and purely
vegetarian fare. On late night jaunts we usually visit Ramu’s Hotel.

This is a 3rd generation family owned Masala Dosa speciality eat out. You don’t sit,
you order for it and eat it while you stand on the road. Weekends its teeming with
crowd due to which the traffic is prohibited, while during weekdays the die-hard fans
go for their dinner there.

Go on and sample a Masala Dosa, am sure most you would have. But then what you gotta
do is keep checking various joints, hotels, restaurants and get invigorated by the endless
possibilities and tastes on offer.

Colours

Colors
Whenever we hear the word color, the first image that creeps into our mind is the vibrant eye-catching detail it brings along. Just looking at a host of colors brings us feelings of joy, happiness and joie de vivre. And believe it or not there are more than a million colors that a human eye can see and distinguish.
Colors have their own meaning too, like white is associated with purity or angels. While black to evil. Red is associated with passion, green with envy, yellow with fear. Green is now days associated with a push for a greener environment. On food articles we see a green dot or red dot – to signify the product composition. Holi is a festival associated with colors. After the festival, we see lots of people walking around in different hues of colors- we know they had a hell of a time with colors.
How important is color to us, we could almost affirm that it brings meaning to our vision. God made this world so colorful. Imagine going to tropical regions, the greenery just fills us with peace and tranquility. While a visit to the beach, the blueness of the ocean captures our soul. Or even a visit to an iron ore the redness of the soil fills the entire space and the vehicles that travel in that region is all red in color.
We have road signs on our road to control traffic and provide safe driving. These are made up of different colors to signify its meaning and importance. Red is for stop, the reason red is used as a stop sign is because it has the highest visibility. We have studied that white light is made up of seven colors, ‘vibgyor’. During schooling days am sure we remember the science experiment with these seven colors on a wheel when rotated it looks white, would have taken us all by surprise.
Colors are food for the soul. Being in a pensive mood, just visiting the nearest garden or during holidays traveling to famous locales like the Himalayas literally washes away our pains. Just imagine seeing things in black and white like the good old Charlie Chaplin movies, and now imagine if they were in color. We have heard of old black and white movies being made into color to enhance our viewing.
Colors are food for the soul, by the creator to enjoy and enhance our life. We should always to thankful to God for such beautiful colorful creation and the ability to enjoy it.

History of search engines

History of search engines

A search engine is a software designed to search for information on the World Wide Web. The first search engine to come up was Archie in Sept 90, it stands for "archive" without the "v". Created by Alan Emtage, of McGill University in Montreal. A few others are, Lycos (1994) Excite (1995) AltaVista (1995) acquired by Yahoo, Dogpile (1996). One of the first "all text" crawler-based search engine was WebCrawler (1994).

It allowed users to search for any word in any webpage, which is the standard for all search engines now. Microsoft first launched MSN Search in 1998 and was providing search services based on Inktomi's search engine. Later on Yahoo! switched to Google's search engine until 2004. Then it launched its own search engine called msnbot using their technology and web crawler. Yahoo! and Microsoft finalized Yahoo! Search powered by Microsoft Bing technology in 2009.
